Advanced Textile Handicraft Diploma, 2 years

You get comprehensive practical and theoretical
skills in weaving, binding theory, artistic embroidery, textile material
science and textile history. In the subject of economics, you get basic
knowledge about small-scale entrepreneurship and the economic conditions of
doing business in the textile crafts area. When studying design, you are given
the opportunity to freely develop your own ideas and artistic expression. In
our own dyeing facility, you learn how to dye yarn and fabrics according to
your own design.
After graduation, many students start their own business to work with textiles and artwork in their own studio. This may include textile orders, cooperation with architects, textile design, or participation in arts and crafts exhibitions. The program is also preparatory for further studies in art, fashion and / or textile in colleges such as the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design / Konstfack, Beckmans college of design / Beckmans designhögskola, The Swedish School of Textiles / Borås Textilhögskola, and HDK. There are several different possibilities.
Final Major Project
As a final project of you degree, you can either
choose to complete a final major project or apply for an apprenticeship in
conjunction with your final project in either weaving or artistic embroidery.
Examination
Examination takes place within the framework
of the courses continuously during the teaching process, tutorials and
presentations of projects.
The final examination is a written report and presentation of the final major project in weaving / artistic embroidery and opposition.
Qualifications
To apply for the program, you must have
completed Textile Handicrafts: Foundation Diploma at Friends of Handicraft / Handarbetets
Vänner School, or have equivalent knowledge and skills. Textile experience in colour
- and design is considered additional qualifications, as well as skills in weaving
and weaving theory.
Tuition Fee
The tuition fee is SEK 11 000 / term. When planning your studies at the HV School, please remember that the school tuition fee does not include the cost of books or materials. Textile Handicrafts: Foundation Diploma is covered by the Regulation of Art and Culture Education, and you are therefore eligible to apply for student aid at university level, contact CSN for more information (www.csn.se)
Course certificate
After having completed and passed Advanced Textile Handicraft Diploma, you will receive a course certificate.

Application process
Admission to the course is determined through a jury group with a selection of the candidates. An acceptance mail will be sent to all candidates from mid-May and onward.
For non-Swedish students
Students must make their own living arrangements and make sure that they are covered by insurance before arriving in Sweden.
If you are accepted to the HV School we will send you a formal certificate of confirmation. You will need this document when you apply to the Swedish Migration Board (www.migrationsverket.se) for a residence permit. The permit is required by law of any non-resident who wishes to study in Sweden for more than three months.
Our teachers speak English, but since the classes are conducted in Swedish we require all students to have bin studying the language before applying to the classes.
