Textile Handicraft: Foundation Diploma, 1 year
Education, subjects
Through
design studies, you will develop your creativity and sense of colour and design,
and work towards finding your own artistic expression. Theoretical textile
history is designed to lay out your introduction within culture and art history
with a focus on textiles. In our own dyeing facility, you learn how to dye yarn and
fabrics to colorize your textile works. In textile materials science, we focus on sustainability
and the environment. You will also deepen your knowledge of handicraft
theoretically through the study of binding theory and theory of weaving.
Further, you learn to manage software applications for fabric and knitwear, Point
Weave and Knit Design.
In weaving, you use counterbalance looms and learn how to weave apparel – and interior textiles, and test your own experiments. Based on your own sketches you get to practice quality planning and calculations. The knitting includes hand knitted techniques, patterns and traditions, as well as machine knitting. Artistic embroidery teaches you the basics in a number of different techniques. You can also try free embroidery. The program ends with an individual project in any one of the textile techniques with guidance in design and craftsmanship.
The program is full-time, daytime.
